Uninsured driver with my truck?

My boyfriend just bought a truck and we put it in my name. i already have a car that is insured. my first question is, can i insure the truck through a different insurance company than my car? also since he will be driving it and he has no insurance will it screw up my insurance if he gets a speeding ticket or into an accident? finally, if i do insure the truck with a different company will they let the company my car is insured through know?
