Car insurance options for red P plater?

I'm a 17 year old girl, who got her red P plates about two months ago. What can I do for car insurance?I'm going to be driving my dad's car whenever I drive, and he said that one company told him that I need more experience and will only insure me after a year. What options do I have? I really want to drive, but not uninsured.
