What happens to me if an uninsured unlicensed driver drives a truck registered in my name?

My boyfriend got his license suspended and its time to pay registration on his truck. He wants to register it in my name and get insurance so its less likely for him to get pulled over if a cop gets behind him and runs his plates because they will see its registered to an insured licensed driver (me). He tells me that it can't negatively affect me if anything happens... but I have my doubts. Can someone please let me know what the laws in california are about this and what consequences I could possibly face for doing this.
