Why would a guy tell me in conversation that he knows "how to read people"?

It almost seemed like he was hinting at me? We were in the car chit chatting, we had just gone out and grabbed a couple drinks and were sort of talking about ourselves to each other and he described how different i was but out of the blue, he told me he's good at reading people, which was random. And he kinda stopped and stared at me when he said it, like almost waiting for a response/reaction from me. I didn't say anything, it kinda weirded me out. Did he mean me? and what's it mean exactly, you can tell what a person is trying to convey?
