I suggest you read the new law that President Obama signed. He has resolved that issue since then. There are exemptions for affordability and religious objections. People covered by Medicaid are exempt from the mandate. For those without insurance and under 400% of the poverty level, there are tax credits to help them buy insurance. Because of these rules, mandate is not like forcing homeless to buy a house.
